Theme of research

To establish a sound Process-Structure co-relationship in advanced materials (e.g., ceramics, oxides etc) where we try to understand a process (and its intricacies/failures) via various types of structural characterization tools. We aim to probe into the synthesis issues (via materials chemistry routes) for nanoparticles, oxides, ceramics etc and try to understand the complexities involved in the process. The final objective is to provide/come up with a sustainable process with the option of industrial scalability.

Research interest :

  • Material & Properties: doped-Zirconia and Zirconates (pyrochlores), doped-Ceria (fluorites), Cu-oxides, water dispersible nanoparticles, phase transformations in oxides, photocatalysis,

  • Process: Wet chemical synthesis, colloidal synthesis, hydrothermal synthesis, ceramic powder and thin film processing, sol-gel, chemical solution deposition, spin coating

  • Characterisation technique: structural characterizations (involving phase, composition, microstructure etc), e.g., XRD, SEM, TEM, TGA, DTA, DSC, Raman, FTIR, UV-visible spectroscopy, Mass spectrometry etc.

  • Failure analysis (for process and products): providing solutions for process and product related failures of Metallurgy, Ceramic, Refractory, Abrasives industry
